The coolest little capital in the world<\/h2>\n

Well, it\u2019s not called the \u201cCoolest little capital in the World\u201d for nothing. I\u2019ve lived here for about 10 years now and I can\u2019t imagine being anywhere else. I travelled Europe before I came to New Zealand to live and, despite being small compared to Auckland, London or Paris, I would have to say it is the BEST city I have ever been to.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Wellington is a vibrant and friendly place with a ton of things to do. There is always something going on, with street festivals, carnivals and food festivals being regular events. The central city is full of amazing cafes, clubs, and some of the best restaurants in the country. The shopping here ranges from chain stores in the malls to cute little boutiques where you can get everything from souvenirs to clothing created by some of the best artists and designers in the world. Wellington offers everything you need for a truly Kiwi experience, and it\u2019s all within walking distance of the bus and train stations or many car-parking buildings.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Culture capital of New Zealand<\/h2>\n

Wellington is known as New Zealand\u2019s culture capital and you’ll find \u201cplenty to ignite your imagination here. It’s a place packed full of the surprising, the creative and the inspirational. Come discover it all for yourself\u201d. As the name suggests New Zealand is young compared to countries in Europe but it\u2019s not short of history. From the Museum of New Zealand Te Papa Tongarewa to the Wellington Museum or the new Great War Exhibition, created by Peter Jackson, Wellington offers plenty of places where you can learn about the history of our land.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

If you want a break from the hustle and bustle you can go to the zoo, take a walk through the beautiful Botanic Gardens, through native bush land at Zealandia or the many Reserves right here in the city. The beaches offer a place to relax, surf and even spot the occasional whale or school of dolphins. If you\u2019re a sports fan, the Westpac Stadium is the place to go. You can catch an All Black\u2019s or Hurricanes rugby game or watch Wellington Phoenix play soccer. There are sports clubs all around the city and wider region for you to join and a swimming pool and gym in just about every suburb.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Getting around the Wellington region is amazingly easy. Whether you\u2019re in the Hutt Valley, Kapiti Coast, or even out in the Wairarapa the city is never more than a bus or train ride away. It\u2019s also easy to get to the rest of the country being less than an hour away from Auckland or Christchurch by plane or take the ferry and be across the Cook Strait in no time at all.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Being an Au Pair in Wellington<\/h2>\n

As if that wasn\u2019t enough, there is also a huge network of Au Pairs in region. Au Pairs from all agencies get together regularly for coffee, weekend trips and days out (with or without the children). Everyone connects through What\u2019s App or Facebook and there is never a shortage of friends or things to do. So\u2026 when you are considering the family you want to come and stay with in New Zealand, don\u2019t imagine that Wellington is a sleepy place with nothing to do. I can guarantee you will be surprised by how much we have to offer.<\/p>\n
